An Introduction
By Kit Glaisyer, Artist
In recent years, Bridport has been gaining a national reputation for our incredibly vibrant art scene. You can read more about the History of our Art Scene here… but let’s start with some of the Galleries and Artists you can visit:
My own Bridport Contemporary Gallery is open every Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
In West Bay, Sladers Yard Gallery shows many established artists.
Neil Barnes Gallery on South Street.
Franny Owen.
Angie Porter opens her home studio every Saturday.
Jon Adam’s unique style of painting has evolved over the many years he has worked with paint, influenced by the nature and light that surrounded him when growing up on an isolated private country estate in Cornwall. This had a profound effect on his identity and was the stimulus for his creativity.
His relationship with the paint has always fascinated him, feeling that the transition from thought and emotion to the application of paint on canvas is critical and magical.
Working with the surface and an evocative use of colour to build depth, Adam creates his own world of emotional internalised landscapes.
